I'll shut up about Trek soon

authoressnebula pointed out this This manip as being very wrong. I think he could probably do the ears justice but then I'm a real geek. I wasn't picturing JM as Spock while reading it but the fic that goes with the pics isn't half bad. It's an AU of the first season of TOS in the way that Truth & Possibilities is an AU of season 6 BtVS. I'm not sure I like the reworking of Sulu and the constant Kirk flashbacks in the first episode started to get on nerves. But I have to say that this was the first Trek fic I've read in a long time that felt like fic. By that I mean it felt like a fresh POV on the familar.

Speaking of Trek my old group is going to hold an auction this weekend. I'm tempted to go and I'm debating if I should wear my Writercon swag and flaunt the fandom I left them for or wear something nice and pertend to be a grownup. My usual Starfleet event clothes back in the day were jeans and con tees. I actually broke a vow to myself never to wear another black tee with a logo on it when I bought the writercon tee. :) Some of these people are still good friend but a few treated me badly, it's sort of your standard HS reunion fantasy situation.

Spike, Xander in the T/X verse

“Tara and I aren’t...”

“Please, I’ve got a nose. Besides that, I know how many times you and your witch’ve held things together. Kept the minis from mutiny and Rupert away from the stakes.”

Xander said, “The mutiny was an easy call. The dead president grates my cheese. The other thing I did for her.”

“Tara really has you by the balls if she can persuade you to play nice with me.”

“Tara’s the one that convinced me alright, but I didn’t back you for her sake. I did it for Buffy’s. I don’t want to think about it but Buffy needs you. For some reason, after all our work, the two of you are still being idiots. You should be with her tonight not on the porch drinking beer with me. Stop wasting time pretending all you are is friends.”

“Practicing for parenthood? You have the old, do as I say and not as I do, down cold.”
