Pairings: Giles/Anya with the usual suppects.
Summary: During the summer after Buffy’s death Anya and Giles discover the truth about how the Key was made. Things get very crack’d from there.

A/N#2 This is only part of a chapter and not much happens but after all this time I thought I’d post this and beg nicely for muse treats. AKA feedback. Previous chapters here or use the tag.
Last night, Dawn and Stephen had huddled in the basement with Buffy and Spike. Anya could tell this made Giles a little uncomfortable. He’d wanted to be there if Buffy needed him and a small part of Giles didn’t entirely trust Spike with Buffy. Anya found it amusing that it was the fact that Spike was male and not that he was a vampire that caused the reluctance. It also warmed her heart that he was able to judge Spike as an individual in spite of years of training as a Watcher. Anya enjoyed convincing him that a teenager and a weepy preschooler were chaperone enough. Nothing would happen between the grieving pair. There was no reason for her or Giles to give up their bed. After some sleep, she’d expressed her gratitude over his common sense. It was nice not to have anyone under 18 sharing the same floor.
It was almost noon when Anya came into the kitchen. Dawn, Tara and Stephen were eating breakfast. Since the there wasn’t a trail of milk and Cheerios on the counter, Tara or Dawn had fixed it for them or cleaned up after Stephen. She said good morning to them all and noted that Stephen looked no happier than he'd been the night before.
“I’m not going to be sad today,” Stephen said.
