uisge_beatha gave me the following.
My Hometown: Hometown as in where I make my home now, or where I grew up? I started out in a place a lot like where I live now. Only for the first 13 years I could get better deli. Really, my hometown was in the county where the last war of the American Revolution was fought. The town itself was small. When my family moved in it was mostly farms all around. Kids at school fell into two semi hostile categories. The Townies and the New Yorkers that moved in and considered us yokels and the place a suburb of The City. I was a townie baptized in http://www.oldtennentchurch.org/Church_Location/churchhistory.html and went to Girl Scouts there. When we moved out the area had more developments and strip malls than farms.
Home now is the county where the last battle of the American Civil War was fought. When we moved here it was mostly farms. To the kids at school I was the city person and invading Yankee. Rather than the oldest church of it's kind in the country we went to a band new one. My BiL & B Bro helped build it. Alas, I'm a heathen lately. The view out my window shows less farm and more Wal-Mart. I like it here, but should I retire to Normandy or something to keep last battle theme going?
Writing: Is something I need to do. I write all the time but I post very rarely because most of it is awful.
Buffy Ships: I love the ones we didn't get. I count Buffy/Spike in that because I started out reading Spuffy before I paid much attention to the show. I love canon but not for the romance. Giles/Anya is my ship because grown-ups are sexy. Also, I can relate well to honest otherness of both of them.
The one ship that Joss should've done because the actors seemed to strike sparks and looked good together was Willow/Riley. Stop laughing. The train wreck that would follow would've been more fun to watch than Buffy/Riley. It had the potential of a scary Darren/Samantha thing.
Dresden Files I adore Harry. What I think I like best about the character is that he's not an anti-hero, and he isn't an adventurer that becomes a hero. He an honestly nice guy whogets into trouble becomes a hero because he's trying to live up his personal standards. We learn more about him as things go on and he does change and grow over time, but that core is still there. The good guy that was trying to survive while doing the right thing in Storm Front is still at in Small Favors. He's got more baggage and a few scars but he also has a family of sorts now.
Pets: I love animals and wish I could mange more than just TaraDog. A lady who's trained dogs for over 60 years claims I have doggy superglue LOL! Dogs are pretty easy to bond with. Just keep the rules clear. Feed them on time and love them. No big deal. But I'll have a dog for a couple of weeks and it'll behave as if we've been together years. The trainer thinks something about my walk or scent is like a big "Help Wanted: Dog" sign that most can't resist. This doesn't make me the Dog Whisper. It's caused some problems with Tara. Also, when I dog sit for my family B Bro's dog pines for me when she goes home and won't eat. This isn't anything I do, it just happens.
