This is more Meta than I usually get and on the rare occasions I have gotten thoughtful, I'm talking to myself. Let’s see if I can get others to join in this.

Most of the bitey fic I've seen relies heavily on fannon [claiming or such] or starts with Buffy having a clear cut reason for allowing the bite [healing Spike of poison for example.] I'm not saying that these conventions are bad but I've been wondering if it's possible to have the bite without them.

Would it be a distortion of Buffy's character to portray her as wanting to be bitten for self destructive or sexual reasons? What about if the fic were pre- season six?
