Best Destiny

Andrew had the weirdest dream, it was like the TNG episode where Jean-Luc was forced by an alien artifact to dream an entire lifetime in a matter of minutes. Only in his dream, Andrew was himself, and not a member of a long dead race wishing to preserve his culture.

He dreamed that one night after a chess club meeting he and Willow fell passionately in love, and into the janitor closet. Everyone tried to talk them out of keeping the baby but they were determined to keep it. Well, Willow had resolve face Andrew was along for the ride.

James T. Wells was perfect and Andrew was a stay-at-home dad. Willow worked as a programmer and moonlighted saving the world. It wasn’t conventional but it worked for them.

Their son grew up smart and imaginative. To overcome crippling shyness he took acting classes and found his best destiny. Andrew sat in the front row when James excepted his Oscar for best actor in the remake of Gone with the Wind.

When he woke up he wept for what could never be. The child of two nerds so perfect in all his geekiness that he crossed back over into uber-cool.
