So I trading houses with my Dad. {see earlier friends only post} I'm starting to get over the please don't make me pack panic. All because of a picture. I was putting a frame on the print I got at Shevacon and realized that the colors in it matched the family lamps. An artist made two china lamps for my grandmother in the early thirties. A Chinese and a Japanese Lady. Both very detailed and graceful. They are painted in strong pastel colors [sort of faded jewel tones and accented in brick red and gold leaf. As it turns out all the fantasy prints I've picked up over the years at cons go nicely with them even the black and white ones I have framed in gold.

This makes me happy the ladies aren't ugly at all but they have stuck out like sore thumbs in my parents early American house forever. Now I have a plan for the living room. Recover the black rocking chair from the other grandmother in an oriental print prob in the brick. Slip cover loveseat same. get pillows in the lighter colors. I'm going to try and find an entertainment center and end tables with an art deco or oriental look to them. I think either would go I just need to check and see what I can afford that I like. The floors are oak and the walls are cream so whatever I get will be wood the rocker is enough black. I'm keeping the beige tab top curtains. I want the stuff to feel like it's comfortable together. I don't won’t it to scream "I have a theme."
