I picked up three books on sale at Kroger’s without looking at them because I knew my Dad was going to be gone and I would be trapped with the tourist. My mom used to say that I was born ass backwards and continued to do things the hard way ever since. First book was #11 in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series> there are currently 13 or something, even though I own My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding I hadn't read her story , so Devil May Cry was my first DH. See ass-backwards. It's the Greek gods in the modern world with a vampire twist. Sounds like crack fic but don't run out on me yet.
Actually anything at all I say about the plot will sound insane. I'll just tell you the characters were strong and fantastic in every sense of those words. The dialog was fun and at times made me laugh. There was an apocalypse to fight and real love story. In other words all the good stuff about BtVS without the heartbreak. Why didn't you guys tell me about these book?
Second book was the third book in Christina Dodd's new shape shifter romance Into the Shadow I usually like her books but this one had something in the first few chapters that ruined it for me. Karen is trying to build an adventure resort in the Himalayas and at night she has erotic dreams of the hero. I thought at first was a physic link mate sort of deal. Nope somebody the hero was paying to watch over Karen was drugging her and Warlord [ the hero.] was crawling into her tent at night. Then he rescue/ slash kidnaps her and he has sex with he without the drugs. I like me an alpha male and the couple can play all the games they like if it's consensual. But this really seemed to cross a line for me. IMO it was stalking and rape doesn't really matter if the guy was pretty and the girl came. Maybe this all gets a logical explanation later but my skin is crawling so I think I'll pass.
