Here's the start of an AU season seven BtVS story.
It's rated G for now and unbeta'd. A story from my "Five Mornings that Never Happened" will be a middle chapter if it works out like I think. Give me some feedback. Do you think it will bore you to tears?A/N beware I have folded, spindled {whatever that means} and mutilated season seven in the hope that I can undo similar damage done by ME to some of my favorite characters.

Chapter 1

The girl with pink hair ran down the alley. She was coking on sobs and tripping over her own feet in fear. Whatever or whoever was chasing her caught up with her and there was a flash of recognition in her eyes before they went dead.

Buffy woke up with a cry, looking into the frightened eyes of her sister. Those eyes looked way too much like the ones haunting her dreams lately and it made Buffy tremble.

“Wake up Buffy it’s just a dream.”

“No Dawn it wasn’t. These things are so vivid they practically come in smell-a-vision. Why can’t I see who is after those girls, Dawn I need to know cause they’re after us next.”

“Are you sure it wasn’t just a dream?” Dawns eyes got even bigger,”Do we need to call Giles?”

“N yes, Yes I need Giles. Slayer dreams and watchers go together. He may not need to come I mean leave home but this is phone card worthy. After school, call worthy we need to get ready you sho.” Buffy grinned trying to convince Dawn she’d shook off the nightmare her little sister was unconvinced but left anyway.

*The badness last year seemed to be once removed from the supernatural almost as if she had been uncalled or something. It had been a very long time since she had had a prophetic dream. Well it looked like whoever was in charge found her number again.* Buffy thought as she dressed.

“Does this say ‘Trust me with a big honking key ring’ to you” Buffy turned showing off her jeans and the maroon golf shirt with gold stitching spelling out Miss Summers. Like the pay the uniform wasn’t great. Someday she might have a job where she didn’t have to wear her name on her top but it was much better than her last job. It would also allow her to keep an eye on the hellmouth.

“Buffy Xander’s going to be here any minuet if you don’t hurry we’re going to be late my first day of class Why do you have to go with me anyway? You are aware this is HIGH school not GRAMMAR school right?”

“It’s an EVIL high school over a hellmouth where I have a new job because amazingly janitors don’t all have to be really old men and the school offers hazard pay.”

Dawn made a face, “I just feel like you’re babying me. Maybe you should rethink this. You do know how disgusting even a girl’s locker room can get maybe the double meat dump is safer. I hope that Xander gets here soon”

“Relax Dawnie you know that Xander’s been early to everything all summer.” They could always count on Xander but he’d been super support guy for months. Buffy’s first impression of the new improved Xander was that he had gained some much needed self confidence when he saved the world but he wasn’t more confident he was simply wound too tight. Buffy had talked this over with Clem just the other day and she agreed with her loss skinned friend, Xan was overcompensating being Mr. Uber-reliable with Buffy and Dawn because he had let Anya down. Buffy was determined not to overlook the problems of her friends again but there wasn’t much she could do to help him work through this.

Xander walked into the kitchen without knocking and Buffy greeted him a shade to brightly. ”Xander, hey! Ready for Hellmouth High 2 The Return?”

“I’m ready for anything, building inspectors, demons, demon building inspectors. I’m prepared. Look I’ve got the rest of the plans and guess whose office is right where the library used to be smack dab over the hellmouth?”

“So,” Dawn asked “is the new principal a demon or just demon chow?”

“I don’t know but there’s going to be trouble. Those dreams I’ve been having and even Clem says somethings up with the hellmouth.” Buffy answered Dawn then look over to Xander and said, “Speaking of dreams have you been sleeping okay? You don’t look so hot.” Buffy thought that he was worried over Anya and expected to be brushed off. The answer he gave made the back of her neck prickle.

“This is going to sound crazy but have you ever had a dream so real you could smell stuff in it?”

“What was in the dream? Tell me exactly.”

Buffy sounded a little like she was channeling Giles. The dream it self was enough to wig Xander this only made it worse. “Just forget I said anything and let’s get moving we’re all going to be late.”

When Buffy and Dawn we’re in what Dawn privately called “Xander’s dad mobile” on the way to school Buffy brought up the dream again. “Look we don’t have time for this I’ll tell you about it at lunch okay.”

Buffy was pretty convinced sight unseen that her new boss was evil. Meeting him threw her a little. Janice’s Mom worked in the office and confided in Buffy that everyone was already referring to Robin Wood as “Principal Hottie” He was attractive but he bothered Buffy. He told her right off the bat that he knew her record. He hired her knowing she once burned down a gym? Are principals even in charge of hiring the janitorial staff? This man didn’t just know who she was somehow he knew what she was. The question was whose side was he on?

When her cell rang and it was Dawn Buffy was almost relieved. The other shoe had dropped she knew she would have to face some ghost when she came back to high school even if the building was new. She even suspected that the ghost would be literal. They were able to take care of it in time for her to have lunch with Xander at 1:30.

If a dead janitor is some kind of omen I’ll pass thanks I’m just getting used to the being alive thing again. God what do I do about Spike I can’t leave him there but it’s not like before with Angel I have Dawn to look after. I don’t think he’d hurt her but he’s not himself. If he we’re human I’d take him to the hospital or a shelter. What can you do with a vampire, maybe Clem can help.

“How did you know there was a talisman?” Xander asked, bringing Buffy back to the present.

Buffy thought of lying but she wanted Xander to open up to her so maybe it was time to crack her own door. “Spike told me, he was in the basement. Something awful has happened to him.”

“Shit, I knew that dream was weird and hellmouthy!’ Xander ran a shaking hand through his hair. “It wasn’t really a bad dream just spooky and really, really real. At first I thought I was dreaming of getting married. I was in a chapel and a girl was there in a white dress. She had long hair and it looked like Spike was her hairdresser. She was wearing a gold cross and the sunlight in her white hair made it glow. I could smell candles and incense and she had on violet perfume. It was all like a big neon sign that spelled “white hat here” was over her head with an arrow pointing down. I didn’t realize who she was till she spoke.”

“Come on Xander who was she? What’d she say?”

“It was Drucilla still sounded a little nuts but not nearly as loony as I remember. Said that Spike was trapped in the basement like I was, that we were brothers fellow paladins and I needed to help him. I got mad at that and she reminded me of stuff we had in common. She said we loved the same and needed to be on the same side even if we didn’t love each other.” Xander didn’t think Buffy needed to know how Drucilla’s disappointed look had made him want to put his arms around her or how he was afraid to hug her because she seemed like something holy and after being reminded of the time he’d attacked Buffy he was afraid touching Drucilla would burn him like a vampire burns when touching holy water. “Then she kissed my eyes and I woke up. There’s only one person I would hate being like more than Spike. This felt a thousand times more real than what that demon had to show me.

“Look, Xander told you but you don’t understand what it was like. What I did to him, what we did to each other before it got to that point.” Buffy put down the salad bowl neither of them would get to eat lunch today.

“You were the victim Buffy, no matter what he said it wasn’t your fault.” Xander meant this for both Spike and himself.

“Remember what I said to Dawn about power the other night when we were patrolling? I was the one with the power I had it the whole time and I knew it Xander, the only one who could make me a victim was me. Spike wanted something from me I couldn’t give and he let himself be used because he thought that would get him a little closer to it so I guess we were both using each other. He wasn’t blameless but I was in charge.”

“But…”

“No buts, he’s broke Xan, I broke him or maybe something at the school did. Your dream was right Spike needs help and I- we need to help him.”

“Buffy what do you mean broke?”

“He wasn’t making much sense, talking to himself and he was a real mess, I tried to get him to leave but he wouldn’t come with me.” Buffy finally started to pick at her food, “We need to call Giles this could all be connected some how I don’t like the feel of that basement.”

“You and I aren’t going to be able to keep our jobs if we slack off anymore. Let’s plan a scobby meeting for tonight we’ll put Giles and Willow on speaker phone and fill them in. We can come back to save my evil twin latter tonight.” Buffy gave him a look when he made the evil twin comment but old habits are hard to brake.
So should I bother to get it beta'd or just scrap it?
