For the Spuffy, Xander/OC sequel to the Kinkficathon story. Let me know what you think.

The board of the new Council of Watchers, AKA the Scooby Gang was a lot more informal than the men they replaced. Rather than meeting around a large mahogany table they were sprawled on the floor or the sofas in the rec. room. Even Giles had his feet up on the ottoman in front of his favorite chair and was wearing jeans. There was much debate among those who remembered the old guard over what was more alarming; the California dress code or seeing the senior Slayer cuddling with William the Bloody.

In spite of this no one doubted that the new Council took the welfare of their Slayers very seriously. Tonight they were deciding the future of two of youngest Slayers and Xander in particular wanted the girls he discovered in Virginia to be well placed. “I don’t think Richardson is ready to take on Slayers yet.”

“We can’t afford to be too picky. There’s simply not enough Watchers to go around Karen and Kelly are only 12 years old it’s not as if they’ll be in the field.” The girls just need supervision and training. I know that Susan Richardson is a bit green but she’s spent years training to be a Watcher, she’s too valuable a resource to waste.” Giles argued.

“I think watching the twins would be the perfect transition for her. It would be better if the girls could stay at home with their family but with three other kids and the father dead…Besides Susan has a good size home and we don’t have room for the girls in the dorm right now.” Buffy ended on a sigh. They all hated the idea of taking girls away from their families but they discovered that few parents could deal with the special challenges of raising a Slayer. It was almost like a devastating accident in a moment’s time their child went from normal to something else.

“Yeah it’ll be good experience for Richardson but what about the kids? They’d either revolt or become Kendra clones.” Xander said.

“She’s not that bad surely?” Giles asked.

“Susan’s wound a little tight but she’s a nice enough bird. Doesn’t eye me like the rest any road.” Spike said.

“Which look are you talking about the ‘besotted cow-eyed look’ or the ‘dear lord it’s a vampire look’?” Xander asked.

“The only besotted look I ever notice is Buffy’s.” This earned Spike eye rolls from the other men in the room and an approving look from Buffy. “But I have seen Susan send a wistful gaze or two in your direction, mate.”

“The only time Susan Richardson bothers to look at me is when she’s trying to prove how stupid I am.”

Buffy asked, “So who do you think should take Karen and Kelly, Xander?”

“How about you and Spike?”

“We have three older girls already and we patrol.”

“What about the Jacksons? That way the girls would be nearer their family.” Xander offered. When Philip and Betsy Jackson discovered their daughter Sara was called the navy officers elected to do all they could to support her once she elected to actively slay. When Philip retired from active duty after an injury he took over as Sara’s Watcher. It was an unorthodox arrangement but it worked well for them and demon activity in the DC area was at an all time low if you didn’t count Congress.”

“We can’t ask them to do that. Philip took on the role of Watcher strictly for his own daughter’s sake and I doubt Sara would want to share her dad.” Buffy said firmly vetoing that idea.

“You said you wanted to stop traveling for a while why don’t you take them on if you’re so worried?” Dawn asked.

“Because they need a female guardian.”

“The Bit’s on to something. There are two of them, both girls could live with Susan and you could help mentor them during the day. Make sure she doesn’t ride them too hard.”

“Spike, I think all that dying you’ve done over the years has caused brain damage. I don’t want to work closely with the slightly more feminine Wesley.” Xander protested.

“The last time I saw Wesley he looked pretty hot.” Willow said.

“Decided to keep all your options open since you kicked the dead president to the curb?” Spike teased.

“I was with Kennedy then, remember? And I’m gay not blind.”

Giles said “Back to the matter of where to place the twins, I agree with Spike.”

“Could you repeat that please?”

“Good grief Spike, I’ve agreed with you many times in the months since your return.”

“I can’t help it hearing you say I’m right just warms my heart dad.”

“Don’t call me that Spike. And Xander, what’s more important to you; your dislike of Susan Richardson or the welfare of these young girls?” Giles asked.

“Way to slather on the guilt da…” Xander stopped mid-word at Giles’ withering look, Xander might be more self-assured than he used to be but Giles could still melt steel with his glare. “OK it probably is the best compromise we can come up with.”

“Once you get used to each other you’ll get along fine. You’ve made friends with every woman you’ve ever met.” Buffy reassured Xander. “Now that that’s decided do we have any other new business?”
